About 3 Deacons

3 Deacons Design services is a partnership between Deacon Gregory Scratch and St. John of Sochava's Church Supply, providing graphic design and photo editing services reflecting an Eastern Christian understanding of beauty and function. Through the influence of classical iconography, manuscripts, tapestries, architectural and font design, a synthesis can be created, incorporating the richness of the Eastern Christian graphic tradition and the ability to produce work that stands out in our media age.

The range of this work varies from black and white logos, letter head, and business cards, to full colour large-scale banners. Added to this design work is the service of editing, enlargement and high resolution output of icons for architectural ordainment such as icon screens.

No one logo and or iconographic image can express the richness of over a thousands years of ecclesiastical design. But by letting those many traditions of printing, carving, and painting etc. inspire us, we might be better able to witness the qualities of beauty and truth.

Deacon Gregory Scratch is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (Vancouver BC Canada) in studio printmaking and mixed media painting. His work as a printmaker provided a natural progression to the design and production of posters for his friends rock bands, and for art exhibitions and events. After getting married to Taesia Jacobson, and starting a family (four children) back in Ottawa On. Canada, he was ordained to the diacoante (2003) and found a natural home for his talent in designing and creating for his parish and diocese.

He currently serves at the Annunciation Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Canada (OCA), as well works on the diocesan level as a representative and chair of the St. Tikhon Archdiocesan Stewards.
